Autumnal

It's still all green, but the heat is on, for the first time this season. With a predicted low of 40 F (5 C), I'm glad of it.

[livejournal.com profile] roadnotes came up here for the afternoon, and she, [livejournal.com profile] cattitude, and I had a pleasant afternoon of conversation and tea-drinking. News, people, and me trying to get a handle on why I've been feeling tense. The time with her helped ease it, though, which may be more useful than tracking down the cause(s). We talked about pasts and the fallibility of memory (I'm particularly bad at tracking duration), work in its various aspects, and people, past, present, and we hope future.

We haven't needed any heating yet, (not even [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel has suggested it, nor even suggested getting the warmer duvet) and we were down to -3 last night. Either we have better insulation or you're nesh!

My everyday winter coat is now three sizes too big, so won't keep me very warm, but I'm having trouble finding what I want. It's cold enough here (especially for me) that I want one that comes down past my butt, that zips and then snaps, and a detachable hood (or no hood to start with). If I can't find what I want, I'll have to wear sweaters under the coat all the time.

The condos are really tight -- I still have the AC on at 72 because if I turn it off, it gets up to 76F inside (56F outside) which is too hot for me these days. But we've had bouncing temps, so when it settles down for a while, I'll need heat soon enough.
