Some silliness for the weekend

[Poll #1063324]

Based on a cartoon by Roz Chast, from this week's New Yorker, that is living on the refrigerator at my office. [I had to completely replace the answers for her last question, and couldn't get a superscripted 2 into a poll question.)

Sorry, can't help it... There's a superfluous "d" in "Choose and answer".

I;ve been corrupted, because the algebra just looks beautiful.

Hey, I hadn't even noticed. But "Choose and answer" actually does make sense.

See, I thought I was guessing who would be most likely to put a gun to my head and injure me to choose, and answer! I would have guessed Patrick Henry, or possibly Nathan Hale, if those had been options.

Yep. I saw that sweet sweet algebra and went "oooh, that's pretty. That has to be right."

Those of you who picked Lyndon Johnson: Why?

Alrighty, I took Andrew Jackson because he was one of the guys who founded the modern Democratic Party and the first president to pay off the country's debt.

That's what I based my answer on. I did have "STAND AND DELIVER!" ringing in my mental ears.

Well, I read the question as "If someone put a gun to your head and said 'Choose and answer,' which of the following would be your answer?" and answered it that way. But it occurs to me just now that there is a different interpretation of that question: "If someone put a gun to your head and said 'Choose and answer,' which of the following would be the person who did it?"

Those interpretations lead to rather different answers, I think.

I have to say that I'm deeply amused by the collection of extra-credit answers....

I thought it would be the latter, though I would not have put any of the 4 Redbird listed on *my* short list of suspects.
