*&^$*#&$ insurance companies &(*# hospitals

*deep breath*

One of the things my health insurance--for which I am now paying myself, by the way--covers is lab tests.

A while ago, my doctor, or rather the hospital in which he works (and where the tests were done) billed me for some lab work. With a form that I could fill out to say "Hey, here's the insurance information." So I filled it out, and sent it back.

And now I have a letter from a collection agency, demanding the money. And of course they're not answering the phone right now (it is after 8 p.m. on a weekend), so I can't even bitch about this until Monday. With what little energy I have for such things right now.

There's a place on this letter for insurance information, too, but I want to talk to someone before I send it back, this time.

Of course, I did that last time, and here we are.

I don't need this.

I've often wondered just HOW insurance companies work. I've a similar problem with an ongoing medical bill from a small surgical procedure I had in January.

The surgeon has been paid. The anesthesiologist has been paid. The pathology lab has FINALLY been paid after submitting the bill 3 times.

The hospital itself has yet to be paid.

It's annoying as all getup.

I hope you have far better luck than I do with this.

That sucks.

I hope you have flowers up in Inwood to cheer you up.
