Doing things the hard way

My favorite jeweler, elisem, is having a clearance sale. Instead of splurging a whole $12 for this pendant, I'm taking on an artist's challenge, which means I'll need to sort out something that all those branches are pointing to, and what those pearls are trying to say.

Vaguely related, one of the pieces in this sale (already sold) is called Turning Trees Into Time, and my immediate reaction was "but trees are already time."

I wonder what that signifies.

Thinking about it today, I was thinking that the pearls on that pendant aren't a what the branches lead to, but who.

I really need to get my hands on it before this goes any further.
