Apparently, the common-sense idea that the US Army, like any other organization, may lie to protect itself is now a "loony-liberal" idea.

What I'd find scary is the idea that the US Army does not consist of human beings, or that American soldiers are so brainwashed that they should not be expected to react as human beings when threatened.

Source for your first paragraph? It wouldn't surprise me if someone is saying that, but is it blogs, government spokespeople, editorials or who?
