Thank goodness that's finished

I will probably never set foot in Port Washington again in my life. This is just fine with me: there's not much there, other than the job-too-far-from-me and the possibility of adopting another cat (and [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger is quite enough in that regard).

Still, my last day wasn't bad, in large part because I knew it was my last day. And because a few other people knew: one of them, Mary Beth (one of the copy writers) brought in home-made brownies to say goodbye. The card she gave me said "Vickie," but (a) as I posted to statements, if you bring me home-baked brownies, I don't care how you spell my name, and (b) she'd never seen my name written out. Proofreading initials all our work, so she knew I was "VR", and she knows I'm Vicki because she's heard it often enough, but that doesn't carry spelling information. They're good brownies, and I brought several home to share with [livejournal.com profile] cattitude.

I called my mother this morning, to tell her I'd quit before she got the news from here or from my aunt Lea. Mom told me I'd made her day.

Now I am going to sleep late for a few days, and then look for another job. (Not only do I need and deserve the rest, but a well-rested [livejournal.com profile] redbird will write better letters, and interview better.)

OK, we're just gonna have to do a lunch in the city one Monday then. Since you're clearly NOT going to be in PW this coming Monday ;)

Brownies are a good bonus to no more commute from hell. Yay!

Congratulations on a job well finished. Hah!

"Vickie" would have been my third or fourth guess on spelling, with Vicky as first, Vicki second and Vikki third. I don't think I've ever met a Vickie, or not known it anyway.

Fortunately, I met you in text first...

And well done on sacking the job. Which gives me a vision of you writing it a rejection letter telling it that it wasn't appropriate for your needs at this time.
