Solstice

Happy solstice, everyone!

Here it means the days are getting longer, and the light is very welcome.

To [livejournal.com profile] micheinnz and my other Southern Hemisphere friends, I hope you're enjoying Midsummer.

And thank god, too. I don't get seasonal affective disorder, but still, I dislike getting up in the dark, commuting in the dark, leaving work in the dark, commuting back home in the dark and getting home in the dark.

Huzzah for more sun.

When I was living in Iceland, during this time of year, we had only 3.5 hours of sunlight and believe me, I could well understand why folks celebrated the solstice.

Ah, I wish Midsummer would stick for more than a couple of days at a time. It's blustery and drizzly today. Thank you for the good wishes -- I'm sure the weather will follow along in its own good time.
