Small cat update

I got a call this afternoon from someone who does animal rescue in Newton, offering to lend us cameras and a humane trap. We chatted some and she came over this evening, with one camera (and the promise of more when someone gets back from Nantucket), a Hav-a-heart trap, and some more advice, which included "expect this to take several days if not longer." We put food, water, and a piece of clothing that has some of [personal profile] cattitude's scent on it, hoping they will attract Kaja.

In the meantime, I am taking care of [personal profile] cattitude, and helping him take care of our other cat, Molly (they're a bonded pair, adopted together because the Humane Society didn't want to separate them).

Aw, man.

Hope she comes home (and/or reappears) soon.

Local Nextdoor opinion (I know, I know, but parts of it are very useful) holds that if your cat gets out, you should set out its litterbox, because the smell will guide the cat home. I'm not sure this is feasible in your circumstances. People who have done this have reported the successful return of the cat, but they did other things too.

I hope the trap and the camera are sufficient, and soon.
