self-indulgence

I'll probably do a real Boskone report, or at least something useful about the weekend, later. In the meantime, this is an allusive and elliptical write-up I committed on the train last night, which will probably be useful only to me (since it mostly makes sense only if you already know what the bits refer to):

hugs...I know someone in Niskayuna...36°...Minoan refrigerator magnet...teeth chattering...clam chowder...peanut butter and mustard...is "ait" a word?...the drinks are on me...Heidelberg..."using force partly moral and partly physical"..."you're Victor"...three quarters of a million...Wat Tyler...romanticism...begging the question..."I was stood up four times"...clementines..."What happened to the gamma?"..."This time it's not our fault"...back exercises in the Tor suite

The summary of the summary is that I had a good time and too little sleep, and got home before the snow got deep.

"Ait" is a word. Do as many crossword puzzles as I have, and you know that. Also that a catkin is an ament, though I am not sure what either means.

From www://www.m-w.com:

One entry found for ait.

Main Entry: ait
Pronunciation: 'At
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English eyt, alteration of Old English Iggoth, from Ig island -- more at ISLAND
Date: before 12th century
British : a little island

And, yes, it is an acceptable Scrabble word (as is AID, AIL, AIM, AIN, AIR, and AIS).
