While I didn't get to the gym today, I got plenty of exercise climbing stairs--because some genius decided that with only one working escalator at 181st Street on the A, it should be going down rather than up in mid-afternoon. And I lifted some weights, here at home--just eight pounds, but three sets of 15 bicep curls with each arm:

okay, i am totally weird. after admiring the pinky-purple streak in your hair, etc. (how do you manage to smile while doing curls?), i started looking at your bookshelves to see what books you have.

That's not weird at all--there's a reason I posed in front of a bookshelf.

The trick to smiling while doing curls is that I'm holding one eight-pound weight; at the gym, I use both hands together but a 30-pound bar.

That's hardly weird. I did the same thing - looked at the bookshelves to see which books there were - and I'm the one that took the photo.
