I have gone back to the Wiscon program page and offered to be a general-purpose moderator. Not the last-minute emergency moderator, though.

I had thought about offering to be a panelist, but when I looked the list over a couple of weeks ago, nothing seemed suitable: that is, there was nothing I'm both interested in and felt qualified to be on a panel about, and right now I don't have the energy to study up from scratch.

I did this tonight because, IIRC, this is the deadline, so no chance to consider at leisure over the weekend.

I won't be upset if I'm not asked; if I'm asked to do six I will accept no more than two or three. If I'm asked to do panels I wouldn't be interested in attending, I will pass.

I had taken a break from being on convention programming, because it was feeling like the wrong kind of work; I think I'm ready again. (I wound up missing last Wiscon for unrelated reasons, so it was just as well I hadn't signed up to be on program.)

i think this is a great idea. i don't think i'm experienced enough as a moderator to do this and while i saw a bunch of panels i'm looking forward to attending, nothing i felt like i was in the top five candidates to talk about, you know?
