Plans, I hope

I have gone with the plurality suggestion, and made an appointment to see my dentist. I decided that going straight home on Wednesday 6 August and seeing the dentist with the afternoon off on Friday the 8th made more sense than the other way around. I hope that this finally got through to the dentist's receptionist, who repeatedly tried to give me an appointment for this week, and then for next Monday and Thursday, as I patiently repeated "Friday, August 8th" interspersed with "no, next week." She also tried to give me a morning appointment, despite my having said from the very beginning that I wanted an appointment in the afternoon. But I believe I have a 2:30 appointment, and I've told her I have insurance. Fortunately, she also asked for my cell phone number. (I would not be astonished if the cell phone rang this Friday while I was sitting on an Amtrak train to Boston.)

My dentist's office always calls a day in advance (a working day, so they'll call on Thursday for a Monday appointment as they don't work Friday) to verify appointments. I like that.

Some of my doctors' offices call a day ahead and that really annoys me. I have Kaiser, so I've already gotten email two days ahead and I don't need to be bothered.
