my misplaced kindle

I found my missing kindle--it had been in my daypack the whole time. I thought I'd checked thoroughly, but apparently not.

I put my hand on the kindle while looking for a black felt-tip pen, in order to address an envelope. (I found the pen a minute later, and the card is waiting to go out.)

(no subject)

My new kindle has arrived, and I have loaded books onto it, in time to go visit [personal profile] adrian_turtle. (I usually wake up before she does, and read while I'm having my morning tea.)

We are having our usual date night. I have no social plans after that, and will mostly be staying in walking distance of my apartment.

lost my kindle

I seem to have lost my kindle e-reader some time in the last couple of days. I looked everywhere in the apartment that made sense physically, even places that made no logical sense (like the various dish cupboards).

I just ordered a replacement, an actual new kindle paperwhite. The kindle I just lost was a kindle 5, second-hand from eBay because I lost one of that model after Amazon stopped selling them.

I can afford to replace it, but it's still enough money to matter. It also means that if I want to read ebooks before Friday, I'll be doing it on my phone. I have an infusion scheduled for Thursday morning, and 3 hours is a long time to read books on the cell phone screen when I have to be careful about moving one hand. I wonder if there's anything in hardcopy that we have here right now and I want to (re)read.

Also, I had carefully not sync'd in a week or so, because I am near the end of one overdue library ebook, and near the beginning of another. I just put them on hold again at the King County library, but it may be a while.
