Sorry, I remembered that wrong.

There are languages where a statement includes--must include, in the way that an English sentence must have a verb--an explanation of how the speaker knows something. Examples would be "I saw this" or "my friend told me".

[livejournal.com profile] ozarque mentioned that some native speakers of those languages prefer English for business because it doesn't have those grammatical markers/requirements. They like the ambiguity.
