Tendonitis

I got tired of waiting for the pain in my hand to go away as mysteriously as it appeared, and had my doctor take a look at it. Mostly, she asked me questions, then felt my hand, bent it, and asked me to tell her if/when what she did hurt.

The tentative diagnosis is tendonitis. I have anti-inflammatory pills. I also have a splint, to wear when I'm sleeping and whenever it doesn't interfere with what I'm doing when I'm awake.

This is likely to mean fewer updates for a while, but I hope it also means less pain.

If it still hurts in a week, I'm supposed to come back and see what to do next. (But I just remembered that her receptionist told me that my doctor will be on vacation next week. Cross that bridge if we come to it, I guess.)

And at least it's not broken. Shortly before I was laid off, two of my coworkers told me about broken hands that the patient wasn't aware of for days. (One her own, one her husband's. I'd have thought you'd notice that sort of thing, but I guess not always. So that was in the back of my mind, and I am much reassured already.)
