cheesecake

I dropped off a feline urine sample at the vet's office this afternoon, then took the 88 bus a few stops to 7 Ate 9 Bakery, where I bought two (small) cheesecakes, and then made my way home by Lyft.

Just after getting off the bus, I was thinking "I could get home by buses and subway, and it's not rush hour...but I'd want to check in with [personal profile] cattitude and [personal profile] adrian_turtle first, followed by the meta-thought "if I'm trying to find a loophole so I can do something, that means I know it's iffy, so I won't." By the time I got to the bakery, which is one block from the bus stop, I had decided that, even aside from Covid precautions, I didn't want to walk any further than I had to, because walking was hurting my hip[1]. I am calling that being sensible, although the really prudent [personal profile] redbird would have skipped the trip to the bakery. But it's good cheesecake, and I haven't been there in more than a year, because of Covid and not living in that part of Somerville anymore.

Bonus: I asked for frozen cheesecakes, and told the cashier I was going to freeze one, because I'm the only cheesecake eater in the house. She told me that the cheesecakes re-freeze well, and suggested cutting them up and freezing individual slices, using plastic wrap.

So, I have eaten a slice of chocolate cheesecake, froze two, and have one in the refrigerator. The lemon cheesecake is in the freezer, intact, and I plan to cut it up and refreeze part in a few days, after I've eaten the piece of chocolate cheesecake that I didn't freeze.

[1] My hips are doing a bit better today than yesterday, but this feels like round umpty-seven of the same problem, meaning it's time to stretch, take NSAIDs, and maybe do some of my exercises, carefully.
