Gym--finally!
I couldn't take it anymore, so I went back to the gym this morning. It was a very carefully calculated workout, lower body only, the one plate-loaded machine I carried all the plates with my left hand (10 pounds at a time), and no leg presses because all those machines put weight on the shoulders. I kept the weights and resistance relatively low, since it had been a few weeks.
After the workout, I went to Amy's Bread for second breakfast (a demi-baguette, with butter and blueberry jam, and a cup of tea). I spilled blueberry jam on my beige pants, and they're so old and beat-up that I don't really care. Fed and exercised, I went to a small but choice shoe shop and got a new pair of Clark's Springer Sandals. These are black instead of brown, but seem the same otherwise (the shop didn't have them in tan, only black and an annoying gray). And I picked up rye bread on the way home. I am feeling thoroughly accomplished, and may go out again for groceries after
julian_tiger and I eat lunch.
Workout details:
Cardio, 20 minutes, top heart rate 116, mostly around 108-110
Calf machine, 70 pounds, 2 sets of 12; 55 pounds, 12
Seated leg curl, 90 pounds, 2 sets of 12; 75 pounds, 13
Leg extension, 50 pounds, 12, 9+1 (a familiar exercise but on a new machine, so I'm not sure the weights are comparable)
Hip adduction, 100 pounds, 12. After one set, I could feel my shoulder leaning/working a little, so I moved over to:
Hip abduction, 65 pounds, 2 sets of 12
Hip adduction (again), 75 pounds, 2 sets of 15
A little stretching: the stretch machine I usually use involves leaning back in almost all the stretches, but I stretched after the calf machine and leg curl, and a little bit of stretching on the mat and with the other stretch device.
