greetings from the pleasantly cool north

I'm happily up in Montreal, basically just spending time with rysmiel: conversation, walking around this fine city, good food, books, a backrub last night, the chance to sleep late. (Chance ≠ ability; I slept until 10 yesterday morning, in the rain, but this morning awoke, and got out of bed thinking "if it's six I'm going back to bed. It was 5:35, I did, and woke again around 7:30.) It was cool enough last night that I was actually glad of the duvet (12 C isn't cold, but I hadn't bothered packing pajamas, it being summer). In a bit we will decide whether today's plans involve the Biodome or the Jardin Botanique (we're both members of both of those fine institutions, so it's just a question of whether we'd rather have lemurs or plants).
