Another exciting Saturday in the Big Apple
After a lazy morning, including Scrabble with my beloved
cattitude, I went to the gym and then attempted some clothing shopping. Century 21 was out of long underwear (well, they said they had tops, but I do fine layering sweaters and such), so I bought two pairs of knee socks and came home. Cattitude is making split pea soup.
It was a good workout, despite being in the afternoon (I'm generally more energetic in the morning, and the gym is less crowded then). I'd had trouble getting my heart rate where I wanted it during cardio in the last week, and this time it went up to a good number and stayed there.
Cardio, 33 minutes, top heart rate 154, mostly in the 140s.
Calf machine, 65 pounds, 2 sets of 13; 60 pounds, 15
Tricep pulldown, 50 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Wrist curls, 30 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Seated leg curl, 95 pounds, 2 sets of 13; 90 pounds, 13
Bench press, 60 pounds, 12, 10; 50 pounds, 12
Crunches, 4 sets of 20
Back arches, 3 sets of 17
Yoga tree, 4 sets of {2 on each leg}, balance not as good as last time
Adjustable row, 100 pounds, 3 sets of 13
Leg press, 240 pounds, 3 sets of 13
Bicep curl, 40-pound bar, 3 sets of 12, but needed a short pause in the third set. I'd been at 40 pounds a while back, then didn't do this exercise for a bit, and had to work my way back up, slowly, from 30 pounds.
Lateral raise, 5 pounds each hand, 3 sets of 15
Stretches
That's eleven times at the gym this month; not perfect, but quite good enough, since the goal is three times a week and I was away for the first few days of January. Most months, I seem to average about 2.5 workouts/week, when I'm home and healthy.
