Baghdad
Rumsfeld and Fleischer said on Friday that the looting was "regrettable", but apparently they didn't regret it enough to have sent troops in the numbers that might have prevented it. There are no hospitals functioning in Baghdad, and probably not in Kirkuk now that our Kurdish allies--who arrived with fire engines and garbage trucks, along with enough police to secure the municipal archives--have been asked to leave.
Horrible as that is, hospitals can and will be rebuilt. I hope not even the money-worshippers who run our nation think "regrettable" will cover the looting of the Museum of Civilization in Mesopotamia.
papersky is probably angrier than I am, but she also put it more clearly than I can manage right now.
