roadnotes outside Shopsin's for what proved to be dinner at Mingala (on the other side of the Village), I had a bit of time, so I stopped in at Varsano's for some strawberry creams. I was the only customer, so when the nice man who runs the place asked how I was doing, I told him: "Could be better. I'm job-hunting." He asked how long I'd been looking, and what I did, and then told me that he expected me to have had a couple (more) interviews by the time I come back. He also asked me to say hi to roadnotes (after asking me to remind me of her name; he knows we hang out together, because I rarely go in there without her).
If we'd arranged to meet at Mingala in the first place, I wouldn't have strawberry creams.
