I'm listening to Andy talk to a friend and ex-coworker on the phone; the company is really and finally shut down, as of this afternoon, and she's the one who had to ride it all the way down, keeping books and tracking stuff and dealing with the liquidators. Not fun for any of them--Andy's company was full of people who liked each other, and will continue to socialize together even now that they aren't working in the same place, whereas I'm trying to find the energy to send out holiday cards to a few people from my old office, so they'll remember I exist and maybe think of me. Even the people there I liked, I talked to on company time, I didn't go to the movies with them, or meet them for dim sum on the weekends.
It's weird here, weird for both of us and feeding back on/to each other's moods in odd ways. And even in a good year, December is a bad month for job-hunting.
But I've made a couple of social plans for the next few days; cooked us a tasty if simple dinner; and even got a little cleaning done yesterday.
And so it goes.
