Reading Wednesday

Most recently read:

So You Want to Be a Wizard, by Diane Duane. The book starts with twelve-year-old Nita fleeing bullies, taking refuge in a library, and finding the eponymous manual in with a series of books about careers, like "So You Want to Be a Pilot."

The book is fast-paced, and good, and has a strong sense of place; Nita and her friend Kit look for a stolen pen, which plunges quickly into high-stakes adventure, with advice from older wizards and some local trees, and "Fred," a friendly if somewhat confused white hole.

Thanks to whoever suggested I read this.

Up next: the sequel, Deep Wizardry.

Not sure. The key thing is she dramatically rewrote it following comments from autistic readers and that subplot is a lot more sympathetic now.

That's good to know.

Young Wizards is one of comfort rereads, and boy can I use some comfort now. I'm considering buying the whole Millennial edition once I finish I my current series.
