Another workout with Emilie
This time we started a bit late, and I was a little grumpy about that: not so much the late, as that she'd said "just a minute" so I stopped what I was doing alone and it wound up being more like 10. But despite that (waiting is not one of my better skills) and her being sick with something cold-like, we had a good session. I'm doing better on some of the balance-related stuff, including an abdominal exercise that she had me doing lying on one of those exercise balls with my feet against the wall.
Overall, she seemed quite pleased with my balance. I'm also getting better at integrating several instructions at once/in a row (e.g., the specific thing I'm supposed to be working on, plus abs, sitting up straight or putting my shoulders back, and breathing appropriately). She's trying to add at least one new thing each week, partly so I'll have a varied collection when we're done working together (I have five more sessions in what I've paid for, and that's going to be it for at least a while). Some of it is variations on a theme: for example, this week she had me doing a row-and-twist sort of thing, with one hand at a time, after I'd done my usual rowing while sitting on the ball.
Session with Emilie, including:
Cardio, 12 minutes, top heart rate 123
Chest press, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 12
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 12 with each foot forward (and then 12, 11 at a weight I didn't record while working with Emilie: she'd only meant me to do one set, but I automatically went into a second with the other foot forward, and figured I might as well go with it when I noticed)
Cross-body pull, 35 pounds, 15 with right hand
Half roller stuff, including lateral raise, 2.5 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 15
Squats with ball, 15
calf with ball, 15
Flight, 12
Row, 30 pounds, 3 sets of 15
More calf and squat stuff
Rolled out IT band
Ab work on the ball with my feet against the wall, Emilie spotting for me
