We continue to work on rearranging/rewiring my balance and proprioception. This week I got some more balance things (but not one I thought we'd been going to do), and some focus on abdominal muscles. And a muscle whose name I can't remember offhand that connects from the lowest thoracic vertebra, connects to all five lumbar vertebrae, and then hooks onto the hip. That one apparently has been doing extra work that properly my abs should be.

I asked her to be particularly careful about my knees: apparently what I did on the leg press Monday was foolish (this based on results). So, more tender loving care for them.

Emilie had me do things standing on a very small foam half-cylinder; that for general balance, and for not asking too much of the calves (again, she thinks I should be using my abs more).

And then at the end she concluded that my neck muscles need loosening up, and reached to show me, or something, without warning—and I just reached out, grabbed her arms, and moved her away from my neck. And then I explained that it hadn't hurt physically, but there's some kind of trigger there (I don't even wear turtlenecks, because of the way they feel around the neck). And cried a little—more than the brief tears that I'm sort of used to from either the rearranging of the body, or from it hurting a lot. It's not an absolute "do not touch me there," but it's often problematic, and I wasn't expecting it.

Before the training session, I did a little more ordinary gym stuff:
Cardio, 5 minutes warmup, top heart rate 120
Chest press, 50 pounds, 12, 9
Biceps curl, 12 pounds each hand, 20; 10 pounds each hand, 20
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 15 with each leg forward. My knees weren't happy with the usual position on that, but okay when I shifted slightly.

If I'm feeling diligent, there will be a bit more exercise here at home before bed; but first I am going to talk to Adrian and [personal profile] cattitude, have dinner, and pack a weekend bag.

I hadn't tried more than three stairs at a time since Monday evening (right after the workout that included the leg press, and pushing myself even though the knees hurt); the one flight down to the workout floor hurt a little, but not horribly, and the one flight up at the end wasn't bad.

Next week, Friday again, which will get me home slightly earlier; my choices there are 6:30 Thursday or 6:00 Friday.
